An active underwater volcano 300 miles off the Oregon Coast that was predicted to erupt in 2025 is now expected to erupt mid-to-late 2026.

New data suggests an eruption cooled Europe, disrupted harvests and pushed Italian states into grain trades that may have begun one of history’s deadliest pandemics.

The eruption’s sulfur dioxide cloud moved eastward, reaching India on November 25 and remaining detectable until December 1, according to data published by the German Aerospace Center (DLR) Wednesday. Dozens of flights were canceled the day after the eruption in regions affected or potentially affected by the ash cloud, mainly near Indian airspace.

"While no human lives and livestock have been lost so far, many villages have been covered in ash and as a result their animals have little to eat," an official said.
